Summer Trips Rock! part 2

Trip 2....Utah

Monday morning we started our drive to Utah.  It's been a while since we've done the CA to UT drive. It went really well.  We even got Chloë to take a nap in the car!  We drove to Grandma and Grandpa's house and got all our bedrooms set up for the week.  We did a lot of running around and meeting up with friends.  The week went really fast but it was super fun.

Tuesday we met up with the Scarpino's for lunch at one of my favorites....Art City Trolley in Springville.  The kids had fun getting aquatinted again.  Later that evening we met with the Sperry's and Keller's in our favorite spot.  Joe Vera's on Center Street.  After dinner we headed to the new splash pad in Pioneer Park.  It was super cool there.  While we were at the park Justin and Sunny showed up with the girls.  It was fun to see them too.

We made it to Grandma and Grandpa's house just in time for Pioneer day!  Janell made a new dress for Chloë this year and the other dresses got passed down the line.  Of course they looked so cute.  Delilah wasn't in the mood for pictures though.  After pictures we headed to the celebration.  We never have enough time to do everything.  This year they had some new things to do like sawing a log and branding it. We met up with Justin and his family for the festivities.

Later that afternoon we headed to Rachel and B's house for a BBQ and swimming.  Man it was great to see them.  The kids were in heaven, and I have to admit so was I.  It was such a beautiful day.

The next day we did the traditional drive to Hobble Creek Canyon.  Let the kids explore and throw rocks.  We usually are in the canyon in the Fall and the Summer is a little creepier to me.  Way more bugs and weeds.  The kids didn't notice but I had the itchies all day.  We found huge milk weeds and the kids made big wishes.  Then we stopped at my friend Summer's house.  The kids got to meet and I got to get my hair done! Man it's nice having someone else do your hair.  It was great to catch up with her.

That night was the annual kickball tournament in Spanish Fork.  The Foul Balls were so excited to get the team together and dress like idiots.  My friend Rachel got a bunch of girls to play with the team and got way into it also.  They are excited for next year already.  We didn't end up going to the semi finals but they had a great time.  The kids drew what their dads looked like during the game.

Friday we did boring things that we needed to catch up on, but friday night we went to Brick Oven with Scrub and Ryan!  It was so tasty.  The dude made the craziest balloon animals.  Delilah got an Iguana, Chloë an Elephant and Alice a Seashore.  Some of the coolest animals I've seen.

Saturday Grandma put the Cinderella's to work.  They love when Grandma yells at them "Get to Work!" and they have to sweep the porch.  Silly kids.  We also visited the aquarium in Sandy with Grandma and Grandpa.  It was super fun.

Saturday evening was BBQ time at Justin and Sunny's!  The kids played and played.  It was so fun just hanging out.  It started to rain at one point but we didn't care.  We just kept on hangin.  We sure have some great family and friends in Utah.

On our drive home we were supposed to drop Gerrit off in Las Vegas for a flight home.  I was going to keep driving with the kids back to CA to help mom unpack and get rid of extra clutter.  Of course the traffic was horrible in Vegas, Gerrit's flight ended up being 4 hours delayed and I was at a stand still by State line.  We decided to stay the night at Buffalo Bills and finish the drive in the morning.  We only took in the necessities and were headed for the pool when a huge wind, dust and rain storm greeted us. We didn't get to swim so we went to the arcade in the casino.  We grabbed some ice cream and ate in the room.  I went down the hall to grab some ice while Chloë was in the shower, Delilah was watching TV and Alice was playing on my phone.  What do you know the Hotel/Casino had a complete black out while I was down the hall.  I couldn't see anything, it was completely dark.  Poor Chloë was showering and I just knew Delilah would be crying her eyes out.  I ran down the hall hoping I wouldn't run into anyone.  Just when the lights came back.  The kids were so scared.  It was a rough night of sleep but in the morning we made it back to CA safe and sound.
